Music gives life a rhythm and flow that God intended. It touches the heart and soul in a way nothing else can. Even if you never learn to play an instrument, just listening to music inspires you. It moves you to think, to dream, and to act.

The Dictionary defines grace in several ways, including “courteous goodwill”. But it’s God who gives this word true meaning. We physically define God’s grace to our world through acts of kindness, great and small. God created and calls us to be that amazing grace.

The Kingdom of God is not about power and politics. It’s about equality and equity. It’s about giving hope to the hopeless and being God’s instrument here on earth. The Kingdom of God is built one brick at a time, one act of love at a time.

The kingdom that God wants for earth is a place of peace and love. As Christians, we pray this prayer every time we worship, yet it seems so far from reality. Wars, conflict, and hatred are eating away at God’s beautiful creation. God sent his Son, Jesus, to teach us how to be peacemakers and love one another. With his help, we will commit to building a community of peace and love.

I have many wonderful memories of growing up in church. Most of all, I remember when Mama said I was old enough to sit with her for the morning worship service.
Let’s use every opportunity to present our children with wonderful experiences that help develop their faith to be strong and enduring.

Following Jesus is more than simply giving lip service each Sunday at Church. It’s a commitment that’ll challenge you to run to reach the highest. Living out our faith isn’t always easy, but it is the most freeing experience in all of life. It frees you to be what God created you to be and gives you the strength to be unafraid to risk, or to fail and try again. Being a Christ follower includes giving Him your all and serving others unselfishly. Would you follow Him?

One Sunday morning after worship, I noticed a young boy staring up at me in my long black robe with a red stole around my neck. He asked, “Mister are you God?” I answered, “No Son, I’m not God, but I can tell you where God is.”
The Spirit of God lives in us, giving us the power to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled.

God did not send his Son to create a new religion, but to tear down religious barriers that keep us apart. Jesus said, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you.” -Matt 6:33. We are called to seek the Kingdom of God that makes us one. The Kingdom where we are to live by faith and work for peace and justice. The Kingdom of God is unity and love for one another.

Those of us with a lot of years under our belt may have less stamina, but we have more wisdom and faith to share with today’s generation and the ones that follow. We seniors must hear God’s Call loud and clear because our youth and young families need to hear and see loving examples of the teachings of Jesus.

We are the Church. And being the Church is the highest Calling in all of life. To fulfill that Calling today, we need a modern reformation. Our rootedness in Jesus is the source for Reformation – the source of faith, hope, and love – the blessed assurance that the Holy Spirit lives inside of us.

When I was a young pastor serving my first church in the late 60s, I wrote this song as a way to encourage the young people of that tumultuous time.
However, my message to the Boomer Generation holds true for today’s Generation Z. The message is this:
You are not only the Church of the future, You are the Church today.

The disciples asked Jesus who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus put his arm around a child and said, “I promise you this, if you don’t become like a child and accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.”
